Inspired by his Cocker Spaniel’s paw pads called Prince, Paul Sperry creates the first anti-slip boat shoe in the world, with rubber sole and canvas and leather upper.

The favourite shoes by all seamen were soon sold by Abercrombie & Fitch, one of the most famous chain stores in the world. During World War II, Sperry shoes became the official footwear of the US Navy casual uniform.
